Auditions for Yjastros are held semiannually at Festival Flamenco Internacional de Alburquerque, and the Conservatory of Flamenco Arts studios.

Yjastros is the only company of its kind in both Spain and the United States. Through the National Institute of Flamenco, Yjastros provides young talented flamenco artists with a place to study, train, and become well-rounded and professional dancers respected by the flamenco world. Apprentices and members of Yjastros train each day throughout the year under the highly crafted curriculum of NIF. Those who participate in Yjastros not only have the benefit of wonderful training, they also have the opportunity to learn repertory from the best flamenco artists in the world – repertory set specifically for the company. Yjastros members and apprentices perform on a regular basis in fine theaters as well as the largest flamenco festival outside of Spain, Festival Flamenco Internacional. Along with training, performing, and rehearsing, Yjastros members and apprentices become part of the flamenco family of NIF. They join a network of artists who are on the same path, face the same challenges, and grow in the same climate of artistry and integrity. Within this network artists can create a flamenco lifestyle akin to their hopes and dreams. All that and they get to live in beautiful Albuquerque, NM!
