The lure and ambience of old world flamenco comes to life in a new production by Joaquin Encinias, Flamenco at the Lodge: A Flamenco Cabaret!. Audiences have been long awaiting the opportunity to see Yjastros the American Flamenco Repertory Company in an intimate setting, and now, the wait is over. This fall, Joaquin Encinias will present his company at The Lodge in Santa Fe New Mexico. This intimate setting harkens back to the café cantante period of flamenco history when patrons could feel the beauty of flamenco as a personal experience. Solos, duets and trios showcase his premier company dancers as they perform flamenco in its truest form, as an improvisational display of artistry. The intimacy between the dancers becomes a highlight of the production as audiences see each dancer's individuality melding with the others on stage. Various rhythms including the slow intensity of the solea por bulerias and the energetic rumba will be presented by the dancers. As always with an Yjastros production, the music will be world class and will be just as alluring as the movement.
